“Although it’s embarrassing to say, my husband and I have just found out that our 18 year old son has been using drugs and alcohol on a daily basis. The police recently arrested him after being caught at school for possession. His school counselor and the vice principle have recommended that he go to a treatment center or ‘drug rehab.’ Do you have any idea how many treatment programs and rehabs there actually are? It’s insane! How do I know what is the best rehab to choose? Thanks”

Thanks Kelly, this is a great question. This is a little complicated to answer without being able to ask questions about you’re son’s situation. So I’m going to try and blanket an answer that can be helpful to you.
Rather than offer a long list of addiction treatment centers and drug rehabs, we would rather speak with you either in person or over the phone. Not every addiction treatment program or drug rehab is the same. They vary is their method for treatment and approach towards rehabilitation. Some addiction treatment centers encourage 12-Step recovery and others promote themselves by offering a non 12-Step based treatment plan. Therapy, DBT, counseling approaches and level of care naturally vary as well.
Finding the right treatment means doing your homework and research. By understanding the needs of one suffering from addiction or alcoholism, you have a great place to start. Many people find that their needs are met through sober livings such as the sober livings featured on our homepage as opposed to a treatment center or rehab.
